Is she a scared vulnerable girl? tell that to the 2000th dude she killed with a headshot while shrugging off gunfire. Her entire reboot is a massive contradiction and trying to "step into her shoes" doesn't fit for me.
MAKE TOMB RAIDER ANGEL OF DARKNESS SHOOT FROM COVER? SERIES
She's a scared who's never killed before girl in a series primarily known for exploration so why is her games literally the most combat heavy in the series and literally gets over taking a life instantly? Why does she constantly walk off serious injuries that just vanish after the cutscene stops? Why for a "Survivor" is her games the least resource management heavy/brain-dead easy games in the series? The problem is that Reboot Lara doesn't make sense with that. We can of course continue to agree to disagree, but please continue to keep it civil. I’m glad that for the most part we can have conversation about this here on the subject.

This is as far as I’ll go as wading into this discussion, so as a moderator I’ll try my best to be impartial. What should matter is that her name is Lara Croft and that she is an archaeologist by education and a tomb raider or adventurer by profession. It shouldn’t matter what weapons she uses, it shouldn’t matter what outfit she wears or whatever else. They aren’t magically gone, they’re still there. Like with Star Wars Legends and Canon, they are separate timelines, and exist in their own universes. There are three different timelines of Lara Croft. A great example is Artyom the silent protagonist from the Metro books and games. Have some enthusiasm for a new version of a character and separate it from the other versions. This can be applied to many other characters from other games, books, comics, etc. Take what you have seen and read what the character(s) have gone through, and it’ll show you why they are the way they are. Learn to understand people, their motivations, who they are and most of all their experiences. Here is a big lesson from Star Wars KOTOR 2: Apathy is death. What I’ve noticed a lot of is: The harping on about her father issues and Lara talking a lot. The problem I see is that they don’t put themselves in her shoes and attempt to understand the character from her experiences.

Which for the most part I’ve noticed is Legend timeline-Centric. Mostly the dislike is on Tomb Raider Forums. It depends on the place, here on reddit it’s mostly positive although there are a few who dislike her a ton for some reason.
